1.6 Future tense

The future tense describes what will happen in the future. The future tense is formed by using either vil or skal plus an infinitive, or by using the present tense plus an indication of time.

Jeg vil rejse til Amerika. I shall travel to America.
Jeg skal spise. I will eat.
Jeg rejser til Amerika i morgen. I am going to America tomorrow.

Comparison:
In English, unlike Danish, you cannot use the present tense to talk about the future. The future tense may be formed in several different ways, for instance by using shall plus an infinitive in the 1st. person, and will plus an infinitive in 2nd. and 3rd. person. If there is reference to the near future, to be plus going to is used.
