1 Verbs

1.1 The infinitive

The infinitive does not indicate tense. The infinitive is the form that is found in dictionaries. Most often the infinitive ends in -e.

blive, skrive, læse, huske stay, write, read, remember

But we also find infinitives that do not end in -e.

dø, gå, få, stå, bo die, walk, get, stand, live

Comparison:
In English the infinitive has no common ending. The infinitive is the base form that constitutes the basis for the rest of the conjugation forms of a particular verb.

1.1 Navnemåde

Navnemåde fortæller ikke om nogen tid. Navnemåde er den form, man finder i ordbøger. Navnemåde ender oftest på -e.

blive, skrive, læse, huske

Men der findes også navnemåde, der ikke ender på -e.

dø, gå, få, stå, bo
