The imperative is the shortest form of the verb. The imperative is the infinitive without the -e. This form is also called the base form. It is this form that constitutes the starting point for the other tenses since the proper ending is added to the base form.
The imperative can be used in two ways. Either as a request, or as an order.
Kom og spis hos os i aften.
Come and eat with us tonight.
Spis din mad!
