The past tense tells us about something that occurred previously at a particular time.
Hun vaskede tøj. | She washed clothes. |
Pigen spiste maden. | The girl ate the food. |
There are two regular conjugations in the past tense. The first conjugation is the base form of the verb to which you add -ede. The second conjugation is the base form to which you add -te.

In English -ed is added to the verb’s basic form. The past tense form is used as in Danish.
